AMERICAN CITY BUSINESS JOURNALS - SEO EDITOR

  • A part of the Audience Growth team, my role includes building ACBJ’s SEO strategy from an editorial standpoint to increase search engine results, rankings, traffic, and visibility on Google Search, Google News and Google Discover.

  • I have created and outlined SEO best practices for ACBJ's 45 local newsrooms across the country and held webinars and one to one training for publishers, editors, and reporters.

  • I guide markets on how to perform keyword research using Google Trends and best optimize their stories for SEO.

  • I advise local markets on how to build an SEO-focused content strategy including explainers, evergreen, and cornerstone content.

  • I monitor search and referral traffic using Cxense and create SEO reports using Google Search Console, Botify and NewzDash.

June 2020 - March 2022

THE US SUN - SEO REPORTER, EDITOR

  • Worked as SEO Editor under the Head of SEO for The US Sun.

  • Tasks included monitoring Google Trends, news, and social outlets to assign SEO-optimized explainers to SEO reporters.

  • Copy edited SEO stories and managed reporters.

  • Assisted the news, entertainment, money, live blog and lifestyle desks with optimizing headlines and copy for Google ranking.  

  • Worked extensively with Data Studio, SEMRush, Forecast, Data Studio, Google Search Console, NewsDashboard and Parsely to monitor traffic, referrals, page views and site trends.

  • Created Google Discover, visibility and search reports for key topics.

  • Regularly exceeded traffic targets due to a depth of SEO understanding and pitching key ideas.

  • Worked as a Senior Account Executive for SE10 PR, an industrial focused B2B public relations agency based in Angel.

  • Supported Account Directors in client communications internally and externally (press releases, caption releases, customer stories, intranet articles) for accounts like Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Manitowoc Cranes, Vinci Energies ROI & UK, Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co, Ltd.

  • Successfully supported client sponsored events like the FutuRE:BUILD Volvo CE and LEGO® Technic exhibition at the London Transport Museum.

  • Lead Titanium account, a new talent management agency based in Old Street. Established its online news section, created biographies for talent and developed social media strategy to direct traffic to website.  

  • Managed media buying for Manitowoc Cranes and Volvo CE. Regularly created original advertisements for Volvo CE services, excavators, wheel loaders, pipelayers.

  • Assisted with client social media management, regularly proofed copy and kept content calendars up to date.

THE LADY MAGAZINE- WEB PUBLISHER

  • Acted as head of Web Publishing for The Lady magazine.

  • Consulted with the magazine’s clients, The Lady’s sales team and PR’s to arrange weekly competitions for the magazine.

  • Commissioned content from writers and guest posts from bloggers (beauty, travel, food, fashion, life coaching, Agony Aunt).

  • Curated galleries and gift guides, sourced pictures and built pages from the magazine on lady.co.uk.

  • Wrote content for lady.co.uk including reviews, features, roundups, interviews and news pieces.

  • Produced and curated content for all Lady social media platfoms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Managed Twitter and Facebook schedule with Hootsuite. Answered comments and queries on social media from readers.

  • Produced original video content for The Lady’s YouTube channel.

  • Liaised with ExactEditions to provide digital subscribers with reader offers.

THE LADY MAGAZINE- EDITORIAL INTERN

  • Online responsibilities after extensive training included building web pages for lady.co.uk and handling social media schedules hourly.

  • This included using Hootsuite for Facebook and Twitter, as well as sending weekly digital editions off online with ExactEditions and weekly newsletter through Sendloop.

  • Assisted with research topics and correspondence with feature subjects.

  • Frequently attended roundtable press conferences, press launches and liaised with PR's.

  • Wrote features and conducted interviews for the magazine and online including the Downton Abbey series six costume designer and head makeup artist, The Drifters band, and the cast of ITV’s Endeavour.

  • Managed Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for Women's Running/Men's Running UK magazine.

  • Created their Snapchat and Pinterest pages.

  • Upload content from physical magazine to WordPress for womensrunninguk.co.uk, mensrunninguk.co.uk.

  • Sourced images for online articles.

  • Researched running and race news, produced race-related news stories, rewrote press releases for online.

  • Created videos with FinalCut for Women's Running/Men's Running, including cover star Q&A’s and running gear reviews.

  • Proofread copy before magazine went to press.

ARTEFACT MAGAZINE - ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR, WRITER

  • Worked on the editorial team as head of entertainment for new arts-based magazine Artefact for its first four published issues and online site www.artefactmagazine.com.

  • Wrote content via WordPress, organized interviews and live blogged during London Fashion Week with LiveBlog24.

  • Interview portfolio includes graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook, world renowned photographer Rankin, and international footballer/fashion designer Robert Earnshaw.

  • Co-presented their entertainment roundup videos on Artefact’s YouTube channel.
